In 1952, the community was canonically erected as a dependent Priory of the Benedictine Abby of St. Andrew, Bruges, Belgium. In 1957, the Ashram was transferred to its present site on the south of Bangalore. Asirvanam Benedictine Monastery, as it is now called, was raised to the statue of a Conventual Priory in 1976.
